Distinguished Visiting Research Professor

Overview

The purpose of the Distinguished Visiting Research Professor Program (DVRP) is to bring to the department an exceptional senior scholar who can contribute to and enrich the department’s research and intellectual endeavors. Hence, in addition to conducting their own research, DVRPs are expected to actively participate in a number of productive departmental/institutional activities.

Goals

• Enrich the residency didactic curriculum
• Provide opportunity for residents and faculty to mingle with distinguished faculty from other institutions
• Synthesize new research ideas and collaborations
• Provide a forum for residents to meet faculty where they may consider future job opportunities

Program Details

Invitations will be issued from the Residency Research Director, Dr. Ganti, to ensure uniform coordination of arrangements. The Distinguished Visiting Research Professor will be expected to give one Grand Rounds level talk on their research area of expertise, plus one other lecture, or a more informal session focused on career and personal development, research, academics or striking the right balance. Distinguished Visiting Research Professors are generally in the Department on Wednesday and Thursday of selected months, September through June. They will meet with faculty, residents and other interested individuals and groups in a variety of forums.
